Does UF care about test scores? ›

Since the University of Florida is a competitive school, most candidates will be academically qualified. Even though your stellar grades and standardized test scores are important, you'll need to have extra qualifications that can help your application stand out.

The state minimum requirements for Freshmen applicants can be found here; however, UF's standards for admissions are significantly higher than the state minimums. Applicants who are admitted typically have at least (and usually higher than) a 3.7 High School GPA.

Average GPA: 4.42

With a GPA of 4.42, University of Florida requires you to be at the top of your class. You'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants. Furthermore, you should be taking hard classes - AP or IB courses - to show that college-level academics is a breeze.

University of Florida admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 30%. Half the applicants admitted to University of Florida have an SAT score between 1300 and 1470 or an ACT score of 29 and 33.

Because this school is quite selective, strong academic scores are critical to improving your chances of admission. If you're able to score a 1440 SAT or above, you'll have a very strong chance at getting in.

Freshman Admission Requirements at the UF

A GPA of 4.4 to 4.6 in high school. Next, an ACT score of 30-33 and an SAT score of 1330-1470 was obtained. A cumulative GPA in the core subjects of 2.0 or higher.

To get to Harvard your GPA has to be at least a 4.0 and even then if you get in your lucky but they require at least a 4.18 GPA only .

The academics are pretty hard-core. The core classes, the sciences and math classes, are tough. But on the flip side, there is so much help out there. Every class has review sessions, from fellow students, TAs, teaching help through UF itself or an off campus company that specializes in helping you pass your test.

Is University of Florida (UF) or Florida State University (FSU) Harder to get into? Which school is easier to get into? If you're looking at acceptance rate alone, then University of Florida (UF) is more difficult to get into.

The school has extremely high admission requirements for SAT and ACT scores, generally admitting students who score in the top 11 percent (SAT 1290/1460 ACT 29/33). University of Florida typically accepts and attracts "A-" average high school students with an average GPA around 3.88.

(WFLA) — A Florida high-schooler has achieved a rare accolade: a perfect score on the SAT. Rising senior Justin Ricketts, who attends Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, nailed the perfect 1600 score on his first attempt at the test, which is required for admission to most universities nationwide.

The admissions disparities stem in large part, many experts say, because admission to any of Florida's 12 public universities requires submission of ACT or SAT scores. Marks on those college admission exams are typically higher for students from wealthier families.

Students are evaluated at the end of the first semester to see if they have met the first semester tracking requirements for their major. If they have, they are guaranteed admission to UF at the end of the first semester.

All applicants must submit test scores from the SAT and/or the ACT. UF will superscore (take the highest scores for each subsection) to create the highest possible total score. UF does not require or encourage applications to complete the essay portion of the ACT.

What are the University of Florida (UF) transfer GPA requirements? University of Florida (UF) requires a minimum college GPA of 2.0 - this is on a 4.33 point scale. In addition, University of Florida (UF) requires a minimum high school GPA of 2.0.

A perfect GPA on a weighted scale is 5.0, although most competitive colleges expect closer to a 3.7 or higher. The average weighted GPA for ivy league schools is typically over 4.0.

A 4.2 indicates that you are earning Bs and B+s in high level classes or As and A+s in mid level classes. This is a very good GPA, and it should give you a strong chance of admission at most colleges. 99.36% of schools have an average GPA below a 4.2.

The national average GPA is 3.0 which means a 2.6 is below average and can definitely be improved.

Does Harvard Accept B Students? Yes, just like I mentioned above, it's completely possible to get admitted into Harvard University with B grades. Admissions are not reserved only for straight-A students.

You should also have a 4.18 GPA or higher. If your GPA is lower than this, you need to compensate with a higher SAT/ACT score. For a school as selective as Harvard, you'll also need to impress them with the rest of your application. We'll cover those details next.

Based on an index of admissions rates and SAT scores, the University of Florida ranks as the hardest school in Florida to get into.

The minimum requirements for consideration include a 3.0 weighted academic GPA as recalculated by the Office of Admissions and either an ACT composite score of 19 or SAT total score of 990. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

University of Florida leads the list by accepting 31% of high school students that applied.

University of Florida Acceptance Rate – Class of 2026

There were 52,513 applications for admission into the Gator Class of 2025. Only 15,220 or 29% of that group were accepted. It is important to note that it is far more difficult to gain acceptance to this university if you are not a Florida resident.

For Princeton, competitive applicants have unweighted GPAs of 3.8. Harvard has named a weighted GPA of around 4.18 to be a “sweetspot” number for students looking to gain admission to the number one college in the country. For most of the Ivy League schools, they expect as close to a 4.0 unweighted GPA as possible.

Is 3.8 GPA easy? ›

The national average GPA is a 3.0, so a 3.8 is far above average. A 3.8 GPA is nearly perfect. Raising it will be difficult, but it will show your hard work and dedication.

The averageprivate school SAT score in Florida is 1191 (2022-23).

An SAT score of 1555 (out of 1600) or ACT score of 35 (out of 36) will place you right in the top 25% for most Ivy League schools, whereas an SAT score of 1455 or ACT score of 33 would put you at the boundary of the bottom 25%.

The state minimum requirements for Lower Division applicants can be found here, however, UF's standards for admissions are significantly higher than the state minimums. Generally, we are looking for applicants with over a 3.0 High School GPA and over a 3.0 College GPA.

1. Harvard University — 3.19% With a record-low admission rate of just 3.19% for the class of 2026, Harvard currently ranks as the most difficult school to get into. This rate reflects admission into Harvard College, the Ivy League university's undergraduate school.

The UF typically prefers the top 13% of SAT takers for admission. On a 1600-point scale, the school consistently accepts SAT composite scores down to 1290, below which admission should be considered a stretch. According to our estimates, some students may be accepted with UF SAT scores as low as 1200.

UF has no preference for either test. We superscore both the SAT and ACT, meaning that if you take either test multiple times, we will combine your highest subsection scores across test dates for the same exam.

The school consistently takes SAT composite scores down to 1290 on a 1600 scale, below which admission should be considered a reach. We estimate some students could be accepted with SAT's as low as 1200. The average SAT composite for admitted freshman is 1380 out of 1600.

While a 1400 makes you eligible to apply to places such as Harvard, Yale, and the University of Pennsylvania, it won't make you a competitive candidate.

A 1500 puts you in nearly the 95th percentile of all 1.7 million test takers. Just 100 points shy of a perfect score, a 1500 makes you eligible to apply to every college and university in the country and be competitive for admission at almost every single one, including elite institutions.

A 1600 is only achieved by around 300 test takers per year and makes you eligible and highly competitive for admission at every college. Looking at this from another angle, a 1600 SAT score is in the 99nth percentile, which means you scored higher than 99% of all other 2 million+ test takers.

Secondary School Academic Performance: UF calculates a core, weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale as part of the evaluation process. Dual-enrollment courses in core areas and any AP, IB or AICE classes receive an extra 1.0 credit weight, meaning that an A is worth a 5.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Grades and Grading Policies

There is no standard grading scale at UF. For general purposes, passing grades are A, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D- and S. Failing grades are E and U. However, note that C- is not a passing grade for courses in the major, General Education, or Gordon Rule credit.
